How to plant a shrub or tree

The two recognized methods of planting shrubs or trees depends on whether the plant is a general shrub/tree or acid loving.

Planting general shrubs, trees, roses etc:
1. Water the plant well in its container before planting. For super results soak the root ball in a bucket of water to which Nitrosol liquid fertilizer has been added. Nitrosol can then be used as an ongoing foliar or soil fertilizer.
2. Dig a square hole twice as deep and wide as the container size. (Generally, 600mm x 600mm). The larger the size of the hole the faster the plant will establish itself. Trees will need a hole that is 1m x 1m in size.
3. Add Superphosphate OR Bonemeal.
4. Add equal amount of Compost to the soil that has been dug out, mix thoroughly and fill the hole with the mixture. Firm down.
5. Dig a hole slightly larger than the size of the plastic bag in the soil/compost mixture.
6. Remove the plastic bag, insert the root ball into the hole and firm down well.
7. Form a basin around the newly planted shrub/tree and water well. Consult our qualified sales staff for Summer, Autumn and Spring feeding.

Note: Never plant a shrub or tree deeper then the soil level in which it was in the bag/pot.
